Many years ago, John Miles sung „Music was my first love and it will be my last“. Which still is true, but Art has been my second love and passion. Before building this home, I always knew, that art would be part of it. So I set myself a budget and started to look at original art.

Suzanne Fabry

One of the first pictures I wanted to acquire was this self portrait by Suzanne Fabry. She was born 1904 as the daughter of Emile Fabry, a more famous artist, and worked with her husband for the theater. The self portrait was listed for 3’000 – 5’000 GBP, but was sold for 35’280 GBP when I would not continue bidding. Still feel sad, that I did not get it.

Many of her works have been sold, like this one at Koller Auktionen in Zürich, Switzerland. It sold für CHF 137’500.00 and used to hang in Wolfgang Joop’s Villa Wunderkind.

I did bid for an two other work of hers, both drawings, but was overbid. One of them was bought by a gallery.
